Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 12.1MP Digital Camera

Today we are going to discuss another cool Panasonic camera, Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1, which has been a bestselling camera on Amazon for a long time. It mean there are many people loving this camera like crazy. Well, just like you think, there must be something special, let’s find out together.

The LUMIX G1 Ultra-Compact Digital Interchangeable Lens camera is as easy to use as a compact digital camera. It’s a new-generation digital interchangeable lens camera that does away with the mirror box and complies with the new Micro Four Thirds System standard. It also features Full-time Live View for compact digital camera shooting ease and iA Intelligent Auto) for beautiful photos with point-and-shoot simplicity. In short, the G1 writes an entirely new chapter in the evolution of the digital interchangeable lens camera.

With the G1, Panasonic has developed an entirely new-concept digital camera that takes even greater advantage of the compactness and light weight inherent in the Four Thirds System Standard. By increasing the number of electrical contacts between camera body and lens, Panasonic has also increased camera expandability and maximized the future potential of the G1, including compatibility with future features.

In addition, the versatile G1 accepts not only Micro Four Thirds System interchangeable lenses, but also conventional Four Thirds System lenses (when an optional adapter is mounted). This means that users can continue to use Four Thirds lenses they already own.

CNET reviewed Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 like this:

The good:
Interchangeable lenses; fast performance; excellent photo quality; flip-and-twist LCD.

The bad:
Accident-prone jog dial; some restrictive feature implementations; no movie capture.

The bottom line:
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 is a camera that people will either love for its speed, photo quality, and interchangeable-lens flexibility or hate for its large-ish size, electronic viewfinder, and occasionally frustrating design.

Quite fair review, I totally agree. It’s just what I want to say.

As a popular advanced camera, Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 comes with a lot of wonderful features, let’s take a look.

Features:

Ultra compact Digital Interchangeable Lens Camera: Made Possible by the Micro Four Thirds System Standard
With the G1, Panasonic introduces an innovative mirror-less structure that dramatically downsizes the camera body.

Full-time Live View and Contrast AF
With the G1 users enjoy the advantages of Full-time Live View not only when viewing the LCD, but when using the electronic viewfinder too.

High-resolution Live View Finder and Free-angle 3-inch 3:2 460,000-dot LCD A large, clear, easy-to-see LCD, that rotates 180 degrees horizontally and 270 degrees vertically is upgraded both in size and resolution to be 3.0-inch with 460,000-dot high resolution to offer even more comfortable view for both monitoring when shooting and for playing back the results.

Great Photography Is Not Only from Professional Photographers Anymore–Intelligent Auto Mode
When you don’t know which mode will give you the best shooting results, or when a sudden photo opportunity pops up and you don’t have time to make any settings, simply choose iA (Intelligent Auto) mode and let the camera do it all for you.

User Comments:

I am a fairly serious amateur photographer who has in recent years mostly used some of the better digital compacts selling in the $500-600 range.

Pros: I needed a new camera for traveling and I wanted a camera that is light and portable enough that take good images and this G1 is the answer.

The G1 is my first interchangeable lens, large sensor, electronic view finder camera. Or, in simpler terms, its my first DSLR.
